Cafe Spice Namaste

This restaurant is without doubt a bit favourite of ours and I have to say that after our visit on friday evening has only enhanced this even more. In my opinion this is the best Indian restaurant in London. Cyrus and Pervin are an amazing hardworking and friendly couple who along side their team strive to make sure you have the best experience when you visit.

We visited there fabulous new location on Lower Dock Walk before to enjoy the amazing dishes on the menu. But on this occasion we wanted to try the Tasting Menu which is Eight Courses for only £60 and believe now when I say this was exceptional value for money. The menu is also made up of dishes that are not even on the menu to which is the main reason why we wanted to try the tasting menu.

Our evening started with the friendliest of welcome before being seated at our table that gave us a stunning view along the river. We enjoyed a pre dinner gin and tonic while we looked at the menu even though we knew what we was going to have. So when the waiter come we simply said we’d like the Tasting Menu please and then just waited to see what the team to see what would arrive. While we waited for the first course were given some Papads and Chutneys.

Now please forgive me for the description of the dishes because remember this is a Surprise Tasting Menu.

The First course was an Extremely Tender Lamb Cutlet that literally as the waiter said just melted in your mouth and along with the perfect amount of spice to create this amazing flavours we could have eaten these all night. This was to be followed by our Second course of a Duck Samosa with a Mushroom Croquette where you mix the ingredients under the samosa together to enhance the flavour combinations of the dish.

It was at this point that Pervin arrived to welcome us back and have a nice chat about how things have been plus plans for the future. The Third dish was a favourite of mine. The Chicken Lollipop on a radish and walnut salad was simply heaven on a plate. So onto dish number Four a Pancake with a side of Chana Daal and once again the flavours were perfect.

Then all of a sudden the main man Cyrus appeared in the kitchen before coming over to see how we were. It’s always a pleasure to chat to him because his knowledge is amazing and he’s not a bad chef either. Now we move on to the Fifth course of Spicy Prawn Balls with a lovely sweet and spicy sauce. Then on to course number Six of Venison and Halloumi Shashlik and what a heavenly combination they were.

Now it was time for the Seventh and main course of a White Chicken Curry with Paratha which was absolutely delicious. This now left with just Dessert to go and a delightful little platter of three appeared. A Chocolate Brownie , Passionfruit Cheesecake , Mango Sorbet to with a Peach Crumble. This absolutely rounded of a evening perfectly.

We finished with tea and coffee to bring to an end a fantastic evening of amazing food and the friendliest of service. I really can’t recommend a visit here highly enough and I for one will definitely be returning as many times as possible. In these days when prices everywhere are rising that you can enjoy an Eight Course menu of the finest Indian food for just £60 is amazing. Please take my advice and book a table now.

Thank You Cyrus , Pervin and all your team for a fabulous evening and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
