Yes ladies and gentlemen we’ve been back again. But seriously though why wouldn’t you. This is a fantastic gastro pub serving the finest food. It is also in an excellent location at the Cheeseman’s Gate entrance to Windsor Great Park. Put this together with the friendliest of service then a visit to the Bailiwick is an absolute must.

Our day started with a lovely walk in the Windsor Great Park before returning to the Bailiwick for lunch where the menu has grown to give you even more choice. This now gives you the opportunity to either pop in for a pint and a snack , a lighter bite , main course or a longer lunch involving two or three courses. When we arrived back at the pub there was Liam & Liz to greet us before we sat down at our now customary regular table which was followed by a complimentary drink. What was to happen next even surprised us a bit because our lunch was about to turn into a five course feast.
SNACKS – We started with a selection of snacks including Crispy Buffalo Hot Wings , Homemade Cider Bread with Cultured Butter & Windsor Great Park Venison Bon Bon’s with Mustard Mayonnaise

STARTERS – Now we moved onto our starters where we chose a delicious Cheese and Onion Scotch Egg and a dish from the lighter bites section of Isle of Wight Tomatoes , Burrata , Basil and Croutons.

MAINS – Now after a little break it was time for the main courses. Firstly my wife chose the Chargrilled Sirloin Steak with Chimichurri Butter and Skinny Fries. Then for myself I opted for the Windsor Great Park Roe Deer Kebab with grilled flatbread , red onion salad , chilli sauce and garlic mayonnaise along with a side order of Chunky Chips. I have to say we were in total heaven at this point because everything had been amazing.

CHEESE COURSE – So we’re now three courses down so what could we have next. Well why not have a Cheese Course so that’s exactly what we did. We enjoyed a selection of three cheeses including a Goat’s Cheese , Lancashire Bomb and a Berkshire Brie along with crackers , fruit bread , celery , walnuts and apple.

DESSERTS – Now you should all know now how much of a fan I am of the amazing pastry chef Ami Ellis. Her array of desserts which I have enjoyed on my previous visits have all been delicious. Then we came to today where she produced a dessert that was absolutely insane. It was called The ‘Grown Up’ Knickerbocker Glory with caramelised banana , cocoa nib , sesame and oat ‘100’s & 1000’s’ , salted caramel , honey toasted spelt ice cream and banana ice cream. It was quite simply heaven in a glass. Oh by the way my wife had the Jam Doughnut’s with blackberry jam , blackcurrant leaf sugar and ice cream.

We finished with coffee and petit fours to bring down the curtain on an absolutely fantastic lunch. I really can’t speak highly enough about this place. The food from Steven , Arran and the team is excellent , the desserts from Ami are simply the best and the service from Liam , Liz and all the staff makes you feel so welcome. Looking for to our next visit in the not to distant future.

Thank You Steven , Ami , Liam , Liz , Arran and all the team for a fabulous lunch and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
