As we head out of Christmas and into the second week of the year it’s time to get the Sunday lunch trail up and running. With this we headed for a long overdue return to the Black Horse in Brentwood which is part of the Vintage Inns chain. I’m also now very pleased to say we weren’t let down in the slightest.
On our arrival we received a lovely greeting which included a welcome back from manager Leigh before being seated at our table. We started with a drink while having a look at the menu. Once we made our decisions our waitress Nina who I have to say was very friendly and professional throughout our lunch took our order. We started with a Prawn Cocktail and the oven baked Button & Portobello Mushrooms. These dishes were a delight and a great way to begin.

Now we moved on to the roasts and boy were we in for a treat. My wife opted for the Roast Turkey and for myself I had to choose the Trio of Roasts which was a mix of pork belly , turkey & beef. The roasts were accompanied with a selection of vegetables , roast potatoes , yorkshire pudding , gravy and of course the additional cauliflower cheese.

We now needed a little break before finishing with dessert. This gave us a chance to have a chat with manager Leigh. For dessert my wife chose the Eton Mess and on waitress Nina’s recommendation I chose the Banoffee Pie with toffee sauce.

We finished with a coffee to bring to an end a fantastic Sunday Lunch. The food and service was excellent and really can’t wait to visit again soon. I would definitely recommend a visit as this is a great place for couples , small and large groups where you can enjoy good food along with friendly service.
Thank You Leigh and all the team especially our waitress Nina who really looked after us and look forward to seeing you all again very soon.
