My 2021 Food and Drink Awards

It’s been another tough year for the hospitality industry due to the continuing COVID 19 situation. But that being said we’ve still managed to enjoy some of the finest dining experiences you could ever dream of. This is all credit to the amazing effort from every restaurant , hotel , pub and local cafe have put in.

Before we begin i would just like to clarify why I call the categories Dining Experience. I could quite easily just say where I enjoyed the most amazing food but I decided on this as it would give everyone a chance to add some personal touches that would make our lunch/dinner an all round unforgettable occasion.

WELCOME TO THE 2021 #LLOYDIES

MY TOP MICHELIN STAR DINING EXPERIENCE This was a very tough decision because if it was just down to the food it would be very difficult to separate Helene Derroze & Core but in the end that’s why I call these awards a Dining Experience so with that and by the smallest of margins the result is as follows.

SPECIAL MENTION

A restaurant can only reach their ultimate goal with the addition of an excellent Front of House team. These are your waiters / waitresses that provide you with the friendly and professional service that makes your overall dining experience the best it can be. Behind every team is a leader who sets the standard for you to follow. So with this I’d like to pay a special tribute to three people who I consider to be at the top of their game. They may have different styles but their ultimate goal is the same. It is also an honour for me personally to say that they are also good friends.

So I’d now like to say a massive thank you to

Rob Rose – Restaurant Director at Core by Clare Smyth

Mirko Benzo – Restaurant Manager at Helene Darroze at the Connaught

Matthew O’Connor – Restaurant Manager at Kerridge’s Bar and Grill

Thank you for making each of our visits to your restaurants a fantastic experience.

So that’s it for another year. I hope you enjoyed The Lloydies 2021 and I look forward to more exciting dining experiences in 2022. I’d like to thank everyone for their support and wish you all a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
