Da Vinci’s Hornchurch

When we last popped into Da Vinci’s at the be beginning of July owner Craig knew it had been our anniversary the week before. With this he gave us a fabulous gift. It was a voucher for a complimentary meal for two people. This was an amazing gesture on his part to which we thanked him most dearly and looked forward to coming in at the earliest opportunity to celebrate.

This led us to yesterday which was the the first chance we had. We arrived and was warmly greeted by Giovanni who then escorted us to our table. He then went to the bar and returned with a complimentary glass of prosecco to start us off. We then gave him the voucher which he took to show Craig before arriving back to say that all is good and to enjoy our lunch.

WINE

Once we knew what we’d be having we chose a lovely bottle of Gavi de Gavi , Conte di Alari with delightful floral notes and flavours of honey that complimented the food nicely

STARTERS

We decided to start with Watermelon , Feta & Mint Salad from the specials board as well as the Arancini filled with Tomato , Mozzarella & Basil. Together with these we ordered the Pane All’Aglio con Mozzarella.

CHEESY GARLIC BREAD
ARANCINI

MAINS

Now we moved onto the main courses which both came from the Specials Board. They were Caciucco a tuscan fish stew that according to my wife was absolutely delicious. For myself I chose the Chargrilled Swordfish with olive oil , crushed new potatoes , salad & sundried tomato butter that complimented the swordfish perfectly. These were two amazing dishes and were worth the visit on there own.

DESSERTS

We then finished with two delightful desserts a Tiramisu and the Lemon Mousse to bring to an end a fantastic lunch.

LEMON MOUSSE

With this we asked Giovanni for the bill to pay for the wine and extra items that we’d ordered only to be told that everything was complimentary. We couldn’t believe it so I went into the kitchen to say a massive thank you to Craig for our fantastic lunch. We couldn’t leave without paying anything so I hope Giovanni enjoys his nice tip. Well he deserves it anyway for all his hard work and is a real credit or the restaurant.

Thank You Craig & Giovanni for a fantastic Anniversary Celebration lunch and hope to see you again very soon.
