The Greyhound Pub in Beaconsfield really has become one of my favourite places and based on saturday’s visit it doesn’t take much to understand why. The food , drinks & service was once again of the highest order which is why we think making the hour long trip from east to west is totally worth it. On this occasion we would be outside where they had created a fabulous dining area in their garden.
We arrived on Saturday and was first greeted by Hannah who gave us a lovely welcome and it was great to see her again. Then along came owner Daniel to say hello and then after a nice little catch up escorted us to our table. A complimentary glass of english sparkling wine as a thank you appeared on the table. This we could enjoy while we looked at the menu’s which consisted of A la Carte , lunch menu and two tasting menus one of which was vegan. Our decision was to for for the tasting menu with the addition of the supplemented dish. At this time it was also nice to have a chat with wife Margriet before asking her for some drink recommendations.
So now onto the food itself where we started with a fabulous selection of snacks. Crispy Chicken with Caviar , Crumpet with Brown Shrimp Butter , Goat’s Cheese with Beetroot & Vol au Vent with Cheese & Onion. These were all absolutely delicious. They were followed by the Sourdough Bread & two types of butter. A Cornish and a Hay Smoked butter. Next was a nice little extra complimentary treat from the kitchen as they sent out a delightful Cauliflower & Caviar dish which when mixed with each other was amazing.

It was now time for our first course Burnt Leek with apple , stilton & white balsamic. A really clever little dish where the flavour combinations gelled together perfectly. This was followed by the Foie Gras with sourdough & yorkshire rhubarb. This was quite light as far as foie gras dishes go but with the addition of the rhubarb was an absolute delight. This was then followed by an amazing Orkney Scallop with green nam jim , soy & peanut which really refreshed the palate after the creaminess of the first two courses.

Next to arrive was the extra supplemented dish. A stunning Summer Truffle with spaghetti & parmesan it was just sublime. This led us on to the main course and one that I absolutely loved. It was Rabbit with spinach , carrot & black garlic that was simply heaven on a plate. This came with a complimentary addition of Belgian Fries with joppie & rosemary salt.

It was now time for a cheese course which consisted of Goat’s Cheese with apple & sultanas. The accompaniments were a fabulous compliment to the goat’s cheese which can be quite strong. Our last course was a fabulous little creation. The Greyhound Ice Cream with miso caramel & white chocolate where the ice cream was made into a lolly allowing you to pick up and dip in the caramel & chocolate on the plate. A nice fun way to finish.

We finished with coffee and petit fours to bring to an end a fabulous outside dining experience. This really is a place that I would highly recommend and personally I can’t wait to come back. The food created by chefs Adam & James is amazing , the service from Hannah , Andrius , Tom and all the staff is excellent and finally your hosts Daniel & Margriet are a fabulous couple and can’t do enough to make sure that your visit a fantastic one that will leave you wanting to return.

Thank You all for a fantastic lunch and looking forward to seeing you all again soon.
