Kerridge’s Garden Grill

This was simply outside dining at its best. The location , food , service and all round hospitality was second to none. I’ve been lucky enough to have visited Kerridge’s Bar & Grill at the Corinthia Hotel on a couple of occasions and are due to return once again at the end of June. Therefore when I heard they were going to be creating an an outside dining experience I just couldn’t wait to make a reservation. So with no hesitation I got in touch with my good friend Matthew O’Connor and all was sorted. This now brings us to the day itself and with beautiful spring weather we headed into town. We arrived at the Corinthia Hotel and was escorted to the lifts where we were told to go to the first floor. On exiting there was Matthew himself waiting to greet us. He gave us a little tour of the garden before heading back inside the hotel. This surprised us a bit but all became clearer as we headed around the corridor and into one of the rooms and straight onto the balcony. This is where our table was set out with the addition of a heater and blankets just in case it got a little chilli. As we got comfortable we received a welcome complimentary glass of Laurent Perrier Rose Champagne. As we looked around you could see how well they had utilised the space with a table on each balcony as well as tables spaced around the garden itself. There was also an area if you just wanted to have a drink. We then took a look at the menu which looked amazing and as Matthew explained would all be cooked in a barbecue style.

Starters

Now let us begin with our choice of starters. Here we opted for the Chicken , Pistachio , & Apricot Terrine accompanied with a homemade Piccalilli & Grilled Sourdough Bread which was absolutely stunning. We also chose the Sea Bream Tartare with Lobster Oil , Mango , Lime , Spicy Red Mayonnaise & Black Sesame Cracker that was light , delicate & delicious. We decided to choose an additional starter as we both love a Panzanella salad so ordered for the table the Heritage Tomato Salad with Creamed Tunworth , Charred Roscoff Onions , Basil & Saffron Oil. This was fabulous and completely refreshed your palate. With our starters we enjoyed a lovely glass of Pinot Gris from the Stopham Vineyard. With it’s peach & pears flavours along with a touch of sweetness was an absolute delight.

Mains

Now we moved onto the main course and what we were about to receive was nothing short of excellence. We chose the Homemade Beef Burger with Ogleshield , Pulled Pork , Hash Brown & Pickleslaw. This not only looked amazing but you could tell by the expression on my wife’s face tasted it to. My choice was the Nashville Glazed Half Cotswold White Chicken with Celeriac Remoulade & Grilled Gem Lettuce which when I say is the best chicken dish I’ve ever eaten should be enough to tell you how good this was. It was simply perfection so all credit to head chef Nick Beardshaw and his team. All mains came with a salad & crispy chunky chips.

Desserts

After a well earned rest it was time for dessert and where unusually we both decided to choose the same dessert a Dark Chocolate Pot with Salted Peanuts , Puffed Rice , Le Blanc Olive Oil & Creme Fraiche that was a chocolate lover’s delight. So at this point we thought we had finished but Matthew had other ideas and brought over a couple of tubs of ice cream. One was Coconut and the other was Coffee. These were both topped with Dulche de Leche , Almonds & Fudge Pieces. These were simply little pots of heaven.

We finished with a coffee that brought to an end a truly fantastic outside dining experience. The location was amazing , the food by head chef Nick and his team was absolutely fabulous and the front of house team led by the master himself Mr Matthew O’Conner was first class. I really can’t recommend a visit here highly enough as you’ll be in for an absolute treat. I now can’t wait until the end of June when we’ll be staying at the Corinthia Hotel and returning to Kerridge’s Bar & Grill to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Thank You Matthew , Nick and all the team for a fabulous afternoon and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
