Fusa Sushi

I was contacted a couple of weeks ago by Fusa Sushi asking me if I would like to try their food. This was something I was very pleased to do especially when firstly they were a fairly new business and secondly they were in essex. Once I’d looked at their menu’s which consisted of sushi , sashimi and maki rolls etc. a style of cuisine that I really enjoy I couldn’t wait to place an order. We decided to order the Subrashi Okasan menu priced at £58 for two people plus as they offered us a little discount we ordered an extra item of maki rolls. The day before they give you a delivery time for the morning and then update you when they are near you. Then when we received our food we placed it in the fridge to eat later at our convenience. So it came to saturday afternoon and with no preparation needed we just laid it all out on the table and took our seats.

Spicy Tuna Maki / tuna , jalapeño , orange tobiko , sesame seeds & chilli garlic mayonnaise. These maki rolls although were very tasty they certainly could have done with a bit more spice especially when you consider the ingredients. For example I just couldn’t taste the jalapeños.

Spicy Tuna Maki

King Prawn Tempura Maki / king prawn , avocado , wasabi , tobiko & truffle mayonnaise. These were an absolute delight and with the heat of the wasabi really enhanced the overall flavour.

King Prawn Tempura Maki

California Maki Roll / snow crabmeat , cucumber , orange tobiko , avocado & daikon cress. These were definitely my favourite as the crabmeat was delicious and with the accompaniments of cucumber & avocado I could have eaten them all day long.

California Maki Rolls

Sushi Nigiri / king prawn , salmon , tuna , sea bass. I have to say I really enjoyed the sushi and every item when accompanied with the additional soy , ginger & wasabi was a delight.

Sushi Nigiri

Sashimi / salmon , tuna , sea bass. The fish was a good quality and with the soy , ginger & wasabi they were a nice way to change the flavours of your palate from the maki rolls. (just needed more ginger).Sashimi

Salmon & Avocado Harumaki Roll / salmon , avocado , wasabi , orange tobiko , chives & teriyaki sauce. This was our extra course and personally my least favourite as I found them to be a little bit bland which when you consider they contained wasabi & teriyaki sauce I was a little surprised.

Salmon & Avocado Harumaki Roll

So that’s it I’m afraid our delightful lunch had come to an end. Overall I thought the quality of the produce was very good and the sushi , sashimi & maki rolls were delicious. I just feel a couple minor tweaks need to be made to enhance the flavours in a couple of the dishes. So if your a fan of this style of cuisine then I would recommend placing an order.
