Cafe Spice Namaste

I couldn’t believe it had been three years since our last visit especially when we remembered what a fantastic experience it was. Well now after we’ve enjoyed another memorable evening at Cafe Spice Namaste I definitely won’t be leaving it that long again. We took a steady fifteen minute walk along commercial street to arrive at this fabulous building where the restaurant is located. Before entering the restaurant itself we did the now mandatory things i.e track & trace , sanitized hands & put on face masks. Then once inside the Indian hospitality took over. We received a great welcome before being escorted to our table. We enjoyed a drink while we looked at the menu where there was a choice of the A la Carte or what we chose the Cafe Spice Namaste Experience Menu as this would give you a chance to sample a great variety of the dishes. Once we’d ordered we were then greeted at the table by wife/owner Pervin who it was a real pleasure to meet a chat to throughout the evening.

Mr Todiwala’s IPA

We started with some poppadoms and a choice of chutneys before a our first course a selection from the starter section including a Parsnip croquette , Kofte and the Frankie Lamb Dosa that my wife wanted to try. This was followed by our second course from the Tandoor section. This had the addition of the special of the evening a chargrilled Chicken Drumstick marinated in Goan green masala as well as Duck Tikka & one of my favourite things the Paneer Tikka.

This was followed by an intermediate course of a amazing Mixed Vegetable soup that was full of spices. It was at this point the great man Cyrus Todiwala entered the dining room to say hello to his guests and stopped at our table for a nice chat. Just to hear him talk about his passion is when you now see why this man is a true legend of Indian cooking.

This then led us onto the main course itself and what a great variety for dishes there were to. We had the Lamb Dhaansaak , Goan Prawn Curry , Chicken in Garlic Sauce , Palak Paneer , Tadka Dal , Rice and a Chilli Cheese Naan and it was all absolutely delicious. The flavours and spices in every dish was amazing.

I can assure you after that we did need a nice rest before moving on to the selection of desserts to finish. They were three little delights a Chocolate Mousse , Pistachio & Mango Kulfi.

We then finished with a coffee to bring to an end a fantastic evening of the finest Indian food. I would like to thank all the staff who were excellent and very friendly. I have to say that if your a fan of Indian food then you really should pay a visit here as I can’t recommend this place highly enough. I for one will definitely be returning as soon as I can.

Thank You Cyrus & Pervin and all the team for a fabulous evening and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
