Due to the current situation we’ve unfortunately had to wait seven months before we could return to Kerridge’s Bar & Grill. We wanted to come and enjoy a sunday lunch as our previous dining experience in December was amazing. So on sunday that’s exactly what we did. It still feels a bit strange when you walk around london but the small steps we are taking are positive ones. We arrived at the Corinthia Hotel and decided to have a little look around before making our way to the restaurant. Once we entered we were spotted straight away by manager Matthew who firstly gave us a great welcome back and thanked us for the support we’ve been able to give the hospitality industry especially during these tough times. We decided to have a drink at the bar first but our choice was already made as Matthew sent over a couple of glasses of complimentary champagne which was a really nice touch. While sitting in the fabulous bar area it gave us a chance to look around and you could see the measures they’ve had to take so they could reopen. The tables in the restaurant and bar were nicely spaced out allowing for plenty of room. There were hand sanitizers for you to use and the staff themselves were wearing face masks so you really did feel quite comfortable in these surroundings.
So now onto the reason why we were here the food. We finished our champagne and was then escorted to our table which was in a nice little booth. To see the food & drink menu you have to scan the bar code which therefore limits the touching of things between yourself and the staff. We placed our order before we met the sommelier Oliver to choose a bottle of wine. For this he brought over the menu so that he could show us a choice of recommendations. Our choice was a fabulous Italian Barbera D’Alba Vignota 2017 full of delightful cherry flavours that complimented our food perfectly. We then started with gougeres and some bread before moving on to our starters.

So yes it was now time for our first course where we ordered the Steak Tartare with Smoked Mayonnaise , a Deep Fried Hens Egg & Brown Bread Crackers. Which I have to say is probably the best tartare I’ve ever had. Our other choice was the Cheese Fondue Terrine with Pickled Walnut Ketchup , Granny Smith & Roasted Walnuts. This was also absolutely delicious.
Next it was time to move on to the main course where my wife chose the Breast of Goosnargh Duck with a Duck Hash Brown , English Peas , Gem Lettuce & Mint where the resulting verdict was a glorious one. For myself I had to have the Dry Aged Rib of Beef with Horseradish Cream , Yorkshire Pudding & the most amazing Roast Potatoes. With this a side order of Garlic Roasted Hispi Cabbage and of course some Triple Cooked Chips. To be totally honest I’m really struggling to find any little detail that would stop me rating this roast as a 10/10 it was sensational and without doubt the best Sunday Roast ever.

After a well earned rest it was time to finish with desserts. For this we chose the Tonka Bean Panna Cotta with Strawberries , Black Pepper Meringues & Strawberry Ice Cream which was delicious. Our other dessert was my weakness as I love a soufflé so therefore chose the Raspberry Souffle with Buttermilk Ice Cream & Rose Scented Coulis that was absolutely heaven and paired beautifully with a light and fruity Melsheimer 2016 Riesling Spatlese.

We finished with tea & coffee to truly bring to an end an absolutely fantastic Sunday Lunch. Every course was amazing and matched by excellent wine pairings. When you put this together with the fabulous friendly and professional service then your not going to be surprised when I say that I would very highly recommend a visit here.
