This is my local Fish & Chip shop in Hornchurch and on saturday we thought it was about time we visited them again. This also finally gave us the chance to put the theory to the test that champagne is the best drink pairing. So in the morning the Laurent Perrier Brut went into the fridge and we chilled out at home waiting for lunchtime to come around. We then took the 10 minute walk to get our Fish & Chips. We received a friendly welcome from the staff and the placed our order. I ordered the Large Cod & my wife went for the Wing of Skate. This they said would take 10 – 15 minutes to cook which was fine with us. They also said that all we would only need one small portion of chips to share as they are quite healthy in size and I can tell you now he wasn’t lying. My wife headed home why’ll I waited and let me tell you now it was definitely worth the wait. As the fish came out of the fryer it looked amazing and I couldn’t wait to get home. Well the result was that it tasted just as good as it looked. Both pieces of fish were perfectly cooked and the chips were heaven and definitely enough for two people and together with the champagne which I can now reveal is the perfect pairing made this one of the best Fish & Chips we had in a very long time.

Thank You to the staff at Oh My Cod and I look forward to seeing you all again soon
Oh wow, this looks amazing! I must admit fish and chips is one of the things I have really missed! Although I have found a temporary stopgap with the Young’s Chip Shop range. As for champagne with fish and chips, I like your style!
One of the best I’ve had in a long time
Forget the fish – look at that pickle!!! 😍.
On a serious note, this looks very good – I can imagine that the champagne was a perfect pairing with the light batter of the fish.
I now see why champagne goes well. A match made in heaven
