We last visited Rubino just under a year ago and enjoyed a fabulous tasting menu lunch so was therefore was keen to return once again. The restaurant itself is located on Chigborough Farm and only a ten minute drive from Maldon town centre. On this occasion we decided to choose the Valentine Lunch menu which was four courses with a glass of champagne at £45 and was available from the 12th to 15th February. You could also still have the choice of the lunch menu which is great value for money with three courses and a drink for £20.
We started with a glass of champagne before the arrival of our first course which was a sharing starter of Salmon Ceviche , Whipped Parfait & Tempura Prawns. This was followed by a Lobster Bisque with puff pastry & gruyere.

This led us onto the main course of Chateaubriand with new potato , sprouting broccoli & hollandaise.

Before moving on to dessert it was nice to have catchup with owner/head chef Rob who kindly said that for dessert if we’d like he would serve us the three from the evening menu. Well you must know me by now so I couldn’t say no to that and therefore gratefully accepted. They were a Lemon Meringue Pie , a Pear Cheesecake & a White Chocolate Parfait.

We finished with a coffee to bring to an end a pleasant lunch. It’s a friendly little restaurant with nice food and friendly service so if you are in the area do pop along and pay them a visit.
The Chateaubriand looks delicious as well as those cheesecakes!
It was nice but not memorable in the end it’s just steak
