On our recent first visit to the Pig & Whistle where we enjoyed a fantastic Sunday Lunch we got chatting to owner Brendan who recommended that we should come and try the Festive Afternoon Tea. The reason was that he said they do it a bit different by offering savoury items to start rather than the usual finger sandwiches. I have to say this quite appealed to us therefore it seemed a nice thing to do. So on Saturday we decided to do just that. We arrived and was greeted by Amanda and after a nice little chat showed us to our table in a nice cosy corner. Once settled she came over and asked if we’d like to upgrade and enjoy either a glass of Prosecco , Mulled Wine or what we both decided to choose a Christmas Gin & Tonic.

While enjoying our drink it was time for the savoury items. These were all homemade and delicious. Firstly a nice light Prawn Cocktail Bite also a heavenly Bacon Jam sausage roll and to finish a Brie & Cranberry Bagel which was amazing.
Savoury Delights
We then moved on to the sweet items starting on top with the mini Mince Pies then underneath were Pistachio Chocolate Delice and Original Blossom Cupcakes. While on the bottom were the scones consisting of Chocolate & Walnut with clotted cream & strawberry jam as well as Stilton with an onion chutney. All freshly made and a delicious.
Sweet Items
We enjoyed the sweet section with some green tea and a fabulous Hot Chocolate topped with Marshmallows

This ended a delightful Afternoon Tea where everything was fresh and delicious and together with good friendly service made this a nice way to get the festive season started. I would definitely recommend and also say that this was excellent value for money. Looking forward to returning again in the new year.
