My Foodie Skiathos

During my fantastic week in Skiathos I got to eat in some fabulous local restaurants all of which were a short walk from the Papadiamanti which is the main street in town. There are so many amazing places to eat in Skiathos Town but the ones we decided to choose were one’s that were quite busy and seemed to be popular with the Greek locals. The restaurants we chose also either had a stunning view or were on a street with a great local atmosphere around. The two other things that are evident throughout each place we visited is that the food is amazing and the staff are so friendly.

1. Taverna Polykratis

This is a great place set at the top of the main street giving you a good view right down the main street. The highlights were definitely the Skewer Greek a sharing kebab dish & Pastourma Pie

The food here was so good that on our last evening we payed a return visit to enjoy some more great food like the amazing Dolmades , Chicken Polykratis & Shrimp with Truffle Cream

2. Basilikos

Set on a narrow side street of the Papadiamanti where while enjoying a great meal you feel the buzz of people passing by creating a nice atmosphere The Dolmades & Moussaka were our favourite dishes

3. Ergon

This restaurant is actually on the main street itself and is very modern with it’s own Deli. Not only was the Shrimp Saganaki amazing but the Octopus dish was definetly a highlight not only of the evening but the week. This is also where I had my best dessert of the week a heavenly Chocolate Cake with Strawberry Ice Cream

4. Koziakas

This is the ideal place for perfect grilled meat and is very popular indeed so don’t miss out. The Lamb Souvlaki & Pork Rib were heaven

5. Taverna O Batis

Now if it’s a stunning view you require then here is a place for you as you get a fabulous view of the harbour. The food was also amazing especially the Lamb Kleftiko & Beef Stifado

Finally I’d like to mention one more place it’s on the island of Skopelos so if you decide to pay a visit to this island then Kyratso’s Kitchen is a must. The restaurant has a fabulous local feel to it and the food is stunning in particularly the Stuffed Squid & Oven baked Goat with Orzo

This certainly was a Foodie week to remember and will live long in my memory not only for the food but as I said above the friendliness of everyone is amazing making you feel like one of the family
